About Scellus

Scellus builds and operates AI systems for document-heavy businesses in Southeast Asia. We help law firms, clinics, logistics teams, manufacturers, and regional operators reduce manual checking, duplicate entry, missed follow-ups, and process leakage. We stay accountable after launch.

We have been operating since 2008 across infrastructure, application development, and AI implementation. Recent engagements include Moideen & Max, NAS Group, and Seleksi Niaga. Malaysian law firms are our launch vertical, with government and statutory bodies as a secondary buying motion.

About the role

We want to meet people who can open routes into mid-market companies and government bodies in Southeast Asia. Business development at Scellus is not pitching. It is reaching the right operator at the right firm, listening for the specific operational pain, and getting them into an operations review where the work begins.

The function is clear. The exact shape depends on your background, seniority, and the kind of ownership you can carry.

We are open to creating the right shape of role for the right person. Whether you have sold complex implementations into regulated industries, built referral networks inside professional services, run partnerships through industry bodies, or led account expansion at a services firm — tell us where you would plug in.

Who we want to hear from

This depends on your background. We are especially interested in people who:

  • Sell by listening, not by reciting
  • Understand how mid-market SEA firms actually decide: referrals, trust, demonstrable competence
  • Read regulated environments well: law firms, healthcare, government procurement
  • Are comfortable with longer sales cycles tied to operating outcomes
  • Have built relationships through industry bodies, alumni networks, or referral systems
  • Treat the operations review as the start of a working relationship, not a transaction

Backgrounds that often map well to this work, regardless of formal job title:

  • Practice managers or business development leads from law firms or professional services
  • Account executives from B2B SaaS who have sold into regulated industries
  • Partnerships leads from consultancies, audit firms, or technology services
  • Members of the Bar Council Legal Tech and AI Committee or equivalent professional bodies
  • Procurement specialists from statutory bodies who understand the buying side

We do not require degrees from named universities, Big Four backgrounds, or English as a first language. Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Bahasa Indonesia are assets, particularly for routes through the Bar Council, MARA-adjacent procurement, and regional firms.

If you are mid-career and considering a move from a stable employer, we understand what that decision looks like. Tell us what would make it worth it.

Where you might plug in

Depending on your background, you could contribute across:

  • Vertical sales. Build the pipeline for one industry end-to-end. Law firms is our launch vertical and the most developed route.
  • Government and statutory bodies. Open MARA-style procurement routes and statutory body engagements. Familiarity with MAMPU ICT circulars is an asset.
  • Partnerships and referral networks. Build durable relationships with industry bodies, professional associations, and complementary service providers.
  • Channel structuring. Design the referral mechanics, partner economics, and account expansion patterns that scale revenue beyond direct sales.
  • Marketing for sales. Build the operational case studies, technical briefs, and reference material that closes complex sales without empty pitching.

Compensation and working pattern

Compensation depends on seniority, role shape, and ownership level. We discuss the range before any working session so neither side wastes time.

For senior or revenue-owning roles, performance pay, profit share, or equity participation may be discussed.

Health coverage and standard statutory benefits are included.

We work asynchronously by default. In-person time happens deliberately, not as a substitute for working through problems clearly in writing.
