About Scellus

Scellus builds and operates AI systems for document-heavy businesses in Southeast Asia. We help law firms, clinics, logistics teams, manufacturers, and regional operators reduce manual checking, duplicate entry, missed follow-ups, and process leakage. We stay accountable after launch.

We have been operating since 2008 across infrastructure, application development, and AI implementation. Recent engagements include Moideen & Max, NAS Group, and Seleksi Niaga. Malaysian law firms are our launch vertical, with government and statutory bodies as a secondary buying motion.

About the role

We want to meet engineers who can take a workflow audit and turn it into a working operating system inside a client’s business. Implementation at Scellus is not consulting on architecture. It is building, integrating, and handing over systems that run reliably in production and that we are accountable for after launch.

The function is clear. The exact shape depends on your background, seniority, and the kind of ownership you can carry.

We are open to creating the right shape of role for the right person. Whether you have built document automation, integrated AI into business systems, run platform engineering at a services firm, or designed workflows inside a law firm or clinic — tell us where you would plug in.

Who we want to hear from

This depends on your background. We are especially interested in people who:

  • Build systems that hold up after launch, not demos
  • Have shipped production code into businesses with real operational volume
  • Understand the difference between an automation that works and one that runs every day for a year
  • Can explain what they built in language a managing partner or clinic director would understand
  • Treat human review as a feature, not a fallback
  • Make integration trade-offs that favor reliability over novelty

Backgrounds that often map well to this work, regardless of formal job title:

  • Engineers from regional software firms, fintechs, or SaaS companies
  • Platform engineers from regulated industries, particularly law firms or healthcare
  • Solutions engineers from automation platforms (n8n, Make, Zapier, Workato)
  • Self-taught builders who have shipped meaningful production systems
  • Senior IT operations staff from law firms or clinics who want to move into building

We do not require computer science degrees, named-firm backgrounds, or English as a first language. Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Bahasa Indonesia are assets.

Where you might plug in

Depending on your background, you could contribute across:

  • Document operations. Build the ingest, extract, verify, generate, route, and audit blocks that sit at the heart of our document workflow.
  • Workflow automation. Design and ship the n8n, Python, and FastAPI services that move work between systems.
  • Integration engineering. Connect M365, Google Workspace, WhatsApp Business API, and client systems into one operating layer.
  • Infrastructure and reliability. Run the AWS Singapore footprint, Supabase, PostgreSQL, and the monitoring systems that keep client operations live.
  • AI implementation. Build the retrieval, redaction, and orchestration layers that move clients from prompt experimentation to production AI operations.

Our stack

Astro, Tailwind, Shadcn/UI, Payload CMS on the frontend. n8n, Python with FastAPI, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Supabase on the service layer. AWS Singapore for hosting. You do not need to know all of this. You do need to be comfortable picking up what you do not know quickly.

Compensation and working pattern

Compensation depends on seniority, role shape, and ownership level. We discuss the range before any working session so neither side wastes time.

For senior or revenue-owning roles, performance pay, profit share, or equity participation may be discussed.

Health coverage and standard statutory benefits are included.

We work asynchronously by default. In-person time happens deliberately, not as a substitute for working through problems clearly in writing.
